How Can swelling And Pain In The Hand Be Treated?

Hello, About 1 month ago I injured my right hand by punching something. There was a lot of pain, swelling and bruising. An ER doctor said there was no fracture (following an X ray) and said it was just a sprain. I, however, continue to have extreme pain on my pinky knuckle when I shake someone s hand. Was I misdiagnosed?

Hi,

We will try to help you in the best way possible. First of all, it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, a repeat X-ray hand and orthopedician review may be needed. Though it can be some soft tissue trauma or tendon injury. But bone fractures need to be ruled out.

Meanwhile, OTC analgesics like Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can be used.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin,
